"For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy."
Hebrews 10:14
This scripture depicts the beautiful blessing we receive to be made perfect by God once we
enter Heaven through Jesus’ sacrificial offering of himself. But the part that sticks out to me the
most is what I have felt led to share with you today.
He has made perfect (past tense, meaning already done) those who are being made holy (present tense, in the middle of a process or becoming). We are born sinful and will never be perfect, but through Jesus we have the opportunity to be made holy. We can only achieve this by seeking and spending time with the one who is in fact holy. We cannot achieve this on our own but I love that in this scripture God is already calling us perfect. He is stating that while you are in the process of becoming holy through me, I have already made you perfect.
Through your trials, endurance, and afflictions God is already calling you perfect because
despite all of those things you are still seeking His face, His holiness and His presence. We
have a promise to stand on that God has created a new covenant or contract for us by Jesus’
blood that as we are seeking His face and being made holy, God is calling us perfect in Him.
"This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I
will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." Hebrews 8:10 God is saying, “...I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.” Which means we can learn and receive his covenant and promises in our own hearts and minds. But how do we do that? And how do we seek his holiness?
By spending time with God through prayer, worship and reading His word. This allows a space for God to come in and speak to our hearts and minds as talked about in this scripture. This creates a space to invite him into our heart and wash us clean of any impure things to make us whole. By spending time with God we create a relationship and intimacy with Him to know his heart, character and voice. How kind and loving is God to send his only son to crucially sacrifice his life to make the imperfect, perfect. That his new promises can be written in our hearts and minds for us to hold onto forever.
Sisters, I want to encourage you with this...
Invite God into everything you do. Remember his sacrifice and promises for you, for it is
impossible for God to go back on his word. Wake up earlier to spend time with him, invite him into your workplace to walk with you. Invite him into your cleaning and stewarding of your home to worship him in all that you do. Invite him into your relationships with your family, spouse, your children and friends. Take the time to create an intimate relationship with him so he can make you perfect in his sight and share the promises he has made for you in your heart and mind forever.
