“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” - Colossians 1:16
If you are like me, I can hear the deafening sounds of the triumphant victory on one side and the overwhelming despair on the other. In times like these, regardless of what your hopes or expectations were for the outcome, it’s clear that both our nation and our world are in need of Jesus. His truth is the anchor we need as we navigate the path forward, and His love must be our compass. When opinions and perspectives diverge, we are called to walk in Christlikeness, embodying the fruits of the Spirit ”love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Only with God’s presence and wisdom can we love others well, bridging gaps and extending grace, even in the midst of disagreements.
Our God reigns supreme, unchanging and sovereign over every ruler, every decision, and every moment. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I encourage you to seek God's guidance on how He may be calling you to turn your focus from the temporary cares of this world to the eternal hope we have in Him. Jesus invites us in Matthew 16:24, saying, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” This call to deny ourselves is a daily choice, a moment-by-moment surrender to let go of our opinions, preferences, and the need to be right. It's an invitation to clothe ourselves in Christ, seeking His heart above all.
Let’s hold onto these unshakable truths:
God is still on the throne.
Jesus is still the only way to eternal life.
Prayer will continue to move mountains as God listens and answers.
Our salvation still comes from the cross, not from any government.
The Bible will still hold answers for every question and need.
There will still be room at the cross for all who come.
Jesus is still the King of kings and Lord of lords.
He will still welcome anyone who places their trust in Him.
God’s presence will be with us always and He will never abandon us.
He still calls us to live out love as we seek to know Him and make Him known!
Will you pray this with me?
Heavenly Father, we come before You, humbly asking for Your wisdom and grace in these times. Teach us to let go of our own desires and to fix our eyes on You. Remind us that our true citizenship is in heaven, where Your love reigns supreme and Your justice is perfect. Fill our hearts with the fruit of Your Spirit, that we may love others well, regardless of our differences. May Your truth guide us, and may Your peace guard our hearts. Help us to be vessels of Your light in a world that so desperately needs You. We surrender our cares and our anxieties to You, trusting that You are in control, and we choose to follow You with all that we are. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
